Allowing Access in Internet Browser Settings

If your camera or microphone is not working properly, it is most likely due to a setting on your computer or internet browser. You will need to go into your computer’s privacy settings and/or your internet browser settings to give LEX Events permission to access your camera and microphone. First, you should start by going into your computer’s privacy settings. Click here for instructions: Allowing Access in Computer Privacy Settings.

Please make sure that you are using an internet browser that is compatible with LEX Events. To see a full list of compatible browsers, please click here. You may have to update your browser to be the latest version.

Instructions for enabling your audio and video in Google Chrome:

Please make sure that Google Chrome is updated to be version 78 or later.

  1. Open Google Chrome.
  2. Click on the 3 dots in the top right corner of your browser, then select “Settings.”
  3. Under Privacy and security, click “Site settings.”
  4. Under Permissions, select “Camera.”
  5. Make sure that “Sites can ask to use your camera” is selected. If this was not previously selected, go to your LEX Event URL and try to enter a room again. You will be prompted to allow or block LEX
  6. Events access to your Camera and Microphone. Click “Allow.”
  7. Under Not allowed to use your camera, click “https://events.lighting.exchange.”
  8. Under Permissions, select “Allow” for both your Camera and Microphone.

Still not working? You may have to restart Google Chrome. To do so, go into your address bar, type “chrome:restart” over your url, and hit “Enter.” Chrome should immediately restart and pull up the page you were previously in.

Instructions for enabling your audio and video in Mozilla Firefox:

Please make sure that Mozilla Firefox is updated to be version 75 or later.

  1. In the menu bar at the top of your screen, click “Firefox” and select “Preferences.”
  2. Select “Privacy & Security” from the left side navigation menu.
  3. Scroll down to the Permissions section.
  4. Select the “Settings…” button for the Camera option.
  5. Change the status for https://events.lighting.exchange to “Allow.”
  6. Click the “Save Changes” button.
  7. Select the “Settings…” button for the Microphone option.
  8. Repeat steps 5-6 for your Microphone.

Instructions for enabling your audio and video in Safari:

Please make sure that Safari is updated to be at least version 12, but preferably version 13 or later.

  1. Open the Safari app.
  2. In the top left corner of your computer’s navigation bar, select “Safari” (right next to the apple icon).
  3. Select “Preferences.”
  4. Select “Websites” from the top navigation menu.
  5. Select “Camera” from the left navigation menu.
  6. Change the pop-up menu next to events.lighting.exchange to “Allow.”
  7. Select “Microphone” from the left navigation menu.
  8. Change the pop-up menu next to events.lighting.exchange to “Allow.”

Instructions for enabling your audio and video in Microsoft Edge (Chromium):

Please make sure that Microsoft Edge is the new version based on Chromium and is updated to be version 79 or later.

  1. In Microsoft Edge, select “Settings and more,” then click “Settings.”
  2. Select “Advanced settings.”
  3. Under Website permissions, select “Manage permissions.”
  4. Select events.lighting.exchange.
  5. Under Camera, turn the switch to “On” to enable access to LEX Events.
  6. Under Microphone, turn the switch to “On” to enable access to LEX Events.

Instructions for enabling your audio and video in Opera:

Please make sure that Opera is updated to be version 66 or later.

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Click “Advanced” in the left sidebar, and click “Privacy & security.”
  3. Under Privacy and security, click “Site settings.”
  4. Click “Camera.”
  5. At the top, turn on “Ask before accessing (recommended).”
  6. Click “Microphone.”
  7. At the top, turn on “Ask before accessing (recommended).”
